It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

December is in full swing and nothing gets us more excited for Christmas than Christmas markets. The atmosphere, the food and drink, the music - everything about them is so spirit lifting and joyful.

We are so grateful to be a part of such a magical market this Christmas, Christmas at the Castle in the beautiful grounds of Dublin Castle. Here you will be engulfed in the magic of Christmas spirit and you will feel the joy entering your body on arrival.

So what do we bring to Christmas at the Castle? Delicious hot roasted nuts of course!

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire” - the only thing more delightful than the iconic Christmas tune are roasted chestnuts themselves! A little bag of them to clutch in your cold mitts and nibble while shopping. Mmmmm… I think between the delicious smell of roasting chestnuts and the time of year, there is something so magical about eating them. One whiff of these roasting and you’ll be drawn in.

For those who managed to get a ticket, we look forward to seeing you! For those not so lucky, not to be worried!

Roasting chestnuts at home couldn’t be easier. Simply cut a small cross in the skins and oven roast at gas 6 400F 200C for about 30 minutes or until the skins open and the kernels are tender. Serve them warm as a snack at Christmas time. Or add them to stuffings, and of course, mix them with Brussels sprouts and bacon to go with the turkey. Save the peeled outer skins – you can use them to light the fire in the absence of fire lighters!
